Welcome to my Student Affairs Administration portfolio. Here you will find representative samples of my graduate school and professional work and my reflections on those works. Please review my work and contact me with questions.
I have focused my graduate school career on international travel and safety in a higher education setting. Many of my class assignments and internship experiences reflect this interest, as you will see in this portfolio. I wrote literature reviews on mental health issues in study abroad and duty of care in international travel. I also analyzed and compiled U.S. Department of State Travel Warning information and created other guides to assess individual travel to higher-risk destinations. In addition, I spent time personally reflecting on the professional development gains I achieved while planning and leading a student service learning trip to Nepal and India.
Through my graduate assistantship for Dining Services and Sustainability, I developed a university Vision for Local and Sustainable Food and wrote a successful grant application for a campus sustainability speaker. I invite you to peruse the documents in my portfolio and ask questions that arise.
Before beginning the Master's program in Student Affairs Administration, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish. After graduation, I spent several years in marketing and journalism. I wrote feature articles and created layout for a local newspaper; wrote, compiled, and submitted proposals for engineering work; created logos, graphics, and advertisements; publicized events; and developed two companies' marketing images. During a search for a more personally fulfilling career, I came upon Student Affairs Administration and more specifically international travel in higher education. I enjoy the ever-changing nature of the field and the positive interactions with students and other administrators. I sincerely hope to begin a fulfilling career in higher education and to continue learning about international travel.
